RTC: Are the Texans primed for recovery?

Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...

Fan blogger Steph Stradley pens this column for the Houston Texans. She is not convinced that the Texans are poised for a quick turnaround.

Doug Farrar of SI.com says that the Texans' lower round drafting could prevent their depth from making them the next Kansas City Chiefs. Farrar says the Texans offensive line is declining and that is a troubling sign for a team so dependent on a power zone running game.

Although it will take a properly orchestrated rebuilding project, the Texans will recover quickly, write Bill Barnwell of Grantland.com.

Texans owner Bob McNair addressed the team to tell them why he had fired head coach Gary Kubiak, writes Dave Zangaro of CSNHouston.com. "You know it’s always serious when he comes to speak," defensive lineman Antonio Smith said. "When Mr. McNair came to speak to us, when he came in the room, we kind of knew what was coming. We knew what was going to be said. Basically, he just treated us all like men and told us why he did what he did and the way he did it. That was it. He just gave us the respect of letting us know what was on his mind and why he did it."
