Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...
We are reading and watching today.
We'll start with this on-camera interview by James Palmer from CSN Houston, who caught up with new Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel at the Senior Bowl headquarter hotel in Mobile, Ala. Crennel was very complimentary of J.J. Watt, but when asked if he would make sure his defense fit Watt's skills, Crennel took a broader approach. He also offered this: "You can never predict anything about this league. All you can do is you can prepare your team, get it ready and see what happens."
Meanwhile, Palmer's colleague Dave Zangaro offers 10 facts about Crennel. The first is that neither Bill Belichick nor Bill Parcells has any Super Bowl championships without Crennel on their staff.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle begins his piece about Crennel's hiring being made official with a tale of a 1976 Texas Tech team that had Crennel and Parcells as assistants. It's an informative piece with historical perspective. McClain finds it interesting that O'Brien and his staff are at all star games scouting before their hirings have been officially announced. He said O'Brien prefers to wait until the entire staff is hired to announce any of it.
Meanwhile, for those of you interested in tracking various prospects, make sure to check out scouting reports from TheSidelineView.com. Here's a link to their Big Board, which includes reports from local analyst Lance Zeirlein.
We've also got plenty of Senior Bowl coverage from ESPN.com reporters there. I'll delve into that later today.
