Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans ...
NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock didn't take a hard stance on which direction the Texans should go with their top pick, but he said if they fall in love with a quarterback, they should take him. "None of these guys are Andrew Luck, none of these guys are Peyton Manning, none of these guys you just sit there and go, 'This is a slam dunk, this is an easy one,'" Mayock said. "So if you're concerned about all three of those quarterbacks, then I think the next question becomes, 'Who is the best position player in this draft, how does that fit into our needs and if somebody wants to come and trade with us and we'd better be wide open for business? So that's kind of a long way of saying 'I don't know who their quarterback is right now, and I don't think they do.'"
More Mayock. He said this year's draft class could be one of the deepest in years, writes Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle.
And even more Mayock (he went longer than two hours on a conference call this week). Per Mayock, Jadeveon Clowney has the physical makeup to be the best player in the draft, writes Dave Zangaro of CSNHouston.com.
We'll move away from Mayock-driven posts after today. Combine media interviews begin and will give us many different perspectives.
