RTC: Texans' Super Bowl odds improve

Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...

The Houston Texans finally signed an outside free agent on the first day of the second week of free agency, but there wasn't much said today about Jerrell Powe, the defensive tackle who was originally drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2011.

Instead, we start with this piece by Dave Zangaro of CSNHouston.com, who noted that the Texans' Super Bowl odds improved during free agency, despite a near lack of activity. Bovada improved the Texans' odds from 40/1 in early February to 33/1 on Tuesday. It's a slow news week.

Texans center Chris Myers appeared on Texans Radio on SportsRadio 610 this week and as part of his time discussed the locker room culture for the Texans, writes Deepi Sidhu of HoustonTexans.com. Myers appreciated the words of Connor Barwin, the former Texans outside linebacker, who wrote a piece for TheMMQB.com a few weeks ago about NFL locker rooms. Having spent most of his career with the Houston Texans, they featured prominently.

Rick Grayshock of Waitingfornextyear.com notes that the contract given to former Texans running back Ben Tate won't put him in the top 20 among base salaries in the NFL. It's not a good time to be a running back on the market.
