Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans...
As the Texans get into a busy week of visits from high-end draft prospects -- such as Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, Jadeveon Clowney, Khalil Mack and Greg Robinson -- John McClain of the Houston Chronicle revisits the best picks the Texans have made in each round. The history isn't long, but McClain came up with this: 1. Andre Johnson, 2. DeMeco Ryans, 3. Eric Winston, 4. Owen Daniels, 5. James Casey, 6. Brice McCain and 7. Derek Newton. Discuss.
McClain also noted eight quarterbacks are seen as potential first- or second-round picks in this year's draft.
Manziel, whose visit begins the week, tweeted a video of himself catching a pass while riding a jetski, says this story on CSNHouston.com.
The Texans might need a quarterback, but CBSSports.com's Jason LaCanfora writes they don't need one badly enough to pass on Clowney. "Sure, the Texans need a quarterback, badly, but let's keep in mind what the first overall pick entails. We are talking about a player who stands apart as the best of his breed by some margin, a player who has transformational ability and who has displayed an ability to dominate at the highest levels of the college game." LaCanfora criticizes other columnists' criticisms of Clowney's 2013 season, calling it "ridiculous ripping."
Which reminds me... is it May 8 yet?
