RTC: J.J. Watt tests Atlanta Falcons' O-line

Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans ...

Texans' defensive end J.J. Watt offered a good barometer for the Falcons' offensive line, writes Vaughn McClure, our Atlanta Falcons blogger, in town for the week. "He's a beast," left guard Justin Blalock said of Watt. "He's a hell of a player. This is a great opportunity for our front to go up against a top-notch defensive front. They're really stacked over there; a lot of top-notch players. It's going to be interesting down in the trenches the whole week."

Justin Tuggle's father Jessie Tuggle had a long and impressive career with the Falcons. Tuggle, a Texans' inside linebacker, enjoyed practicing against his dad's former team on Wednesday, writes D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. "It’s cool because I remember being at training camp when I was young,” Tuggle said. “I was running behind my Dad. Now, I get to practice against them. It’s a cool experience getting to come full circle and get to experience it on the other end."

Ronnie Brown, the running back the Texans signed this week, thinks he's got plenty left in the tank, writes Dale Robertson of the Houston Chronicle. Brown, 33, was the second overall pick in 2005. Now he's in a much different role entering his 10th season.

The Chronicle's Jerome Solomon wants you all to calm down about the Texans' first preseason game. The Texans' quarterback situation won't change, Solomon says, but a guy like Ryan Mallett or Brian Hoyer won't improve the situation.
