Luck's football aptitude is 'off the charts'

INDIANAPOLIS -- ESPN analyst Jon Gruden made his weekly appearance on “Mike & Mike” on Wednesday morning. Gruden, who will be in the booth when the Indianapolis Colts take on the San Diego Chargers on "Monday Night Football," couldn’t stop talking about Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

“I really feel he should have won the Heisman Trophy [while at Stanford]. I think he should have been the Rookie of the Year. I think he’s an amazing quarterback," Gruden said. "This is one of the strongest human beings to play the position. His athletic ability is extremely underrated. He can run over you. He can get away from you. He can make every single throw. And his football aptitude is off the charts. When you start the game, he’s a different human being than he is off the field. He’s one of the premier competitors we have in sports. I just can’t tell you how exciting it is to watch him. He creates a lot of plays with his mind, with his legs and with his arm.”
