INDIANAPOLIS -- Most of the attention Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee got from Sunday’s victory over the Denver Broncos centered on the big hit he put on kick returner Trindon Holliday right before the end of the first quarter.
But McAfee did more than deliver a hit that had people talking on Twitter, sports talk radio and television.
He took a random drug test and was also accurate with his foot, which is why he’s the Punter of the Week by Stats & Information.
McAfee nailed six of his nine punts inside the 20-yard line against the Broncos. He’s the only Colts punter to put six punts inside the 20 in a game since that data became available in 1976.
McAfee’s best punt was a 60-yarder that put Denver on its own 12-yard line in the second quarter. He ended the game averaging 47.1 net yards per punt, the second-best average for the week.
So McAfee can do more than lay out a returner after chasing him down and be funny on his live Internet-only show with the Indianapolis Star. He can also punt the ball pretty well.
