10 key plays of the Colts' season: No. 5

Indianapolis Colts receiver Reggie Wayne's 13th season ended in Week 7 when he crumbled to the ground with a torn ACL in the final minutes of their victory over the Denver Broncos. But Wayne joined elite company the week prior when he made the 1,000th reception of his career against the San Diego Chargers.

Key play No. 5: Wayne gets to 1,000 catches

If the first offensive play was any indication, you would have thought Wayne was going to have a big game against the Chargers. Quarterback Andrew Luck took a flea flicker from running back Trent Richardson and completed a 35-yard pass to Wayne.

It took six more series and five balls thrown Wayne's way before he became the ninth receiver in NFL history with at least 1,000 catches. Wayne came back and went low to catch the ball before it hit the ground for a 21-yard reception early in the fourth quarter. He finished with five catches for 88 yards.

"It's a great honor," Wayne said after the game. "It's a humbling experience to be in an elite class with a bunch of guys who have helped pave the way for guys like myself. I wish it would have been more of a greater celebration."
