Colts' 2014 Super Bowl odds

First, John Clayton left the Indianapolis Colts off his list of the top eight teams for the 2014 season. And now the Las Vegas oddsmakers aren't giving them that much of a chance to win the Super Bowl next season.

The oddsmaker give the Colts and Kansas City Chiefs a 28/1 chance of winning the title next season. Those odds are 12th in the league. Like many others, Bovada list the Seattle Seahawks as the favorites to win the Super Bowl for the second straight season with 9/2 odds. No team has repeated as back-to-back Super Bowl champs since New England did it in 2004 and 2005.

Here's the list of the teams in front of the Colts and their odds:

Seahawks Seahawks -- 9/2

San Francisco 49ers -- 15/2

Denver Broncos -- 8/1

New England Patriots -- 14/1

Green Bay Packers -- 16/1

New Orleans Saints -- 18/1

Atlanta Falcons -- 25/1

Carolina Panthers -- 25/1

Chicago Bears -- 25/1

Cincinnati Bengals -- 25/1

Philadelphia Eagles -- 25/1

The respect level for the Colts isn't there. They've got two teams -- Chicago and Atlanta -- with better odds to the win the Super Bowl than Indianapolis despite thos teams not making the playoffs last season.

Colts coach Chuck Pagano often likes to use an "us against them" approach in motivating his players. He told his players about a column that Indianapolis Star columnist Bob Kravitz wrote about how Peyton Manning would have a good game against the Colts days before the Oct. 20 game against the Denver Broncos. Players would often make comments to the media about us doubting them after quarterback Andrew Luck would lead one of his incredible comebacks.

Pagano will have to do the same thing again next season since the Colts are long shots to win the Super Bowl.
