Defensive tackle: Aubrayo Franklin
2013 stats: 29 tackles
There’s usually a point in the season when a player does something that has you talking about it for a little bit. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a sack or interception. It could be something like commanding multiple blockers, batting down a pass at the line of scrimmage or making a move that embarrasses an offensive lineman.
That wasn’t the case with Franklin last season.
He didn’t miss any games last season, but he didn’t make a huge impact. The Colts need to look to upgrade that position, as they lack the big tackle capable of clogging up the middle of the line of scrimmage. The Colts were 26th in the league in stopping the run. That’s an unacceptable ranking if the Colts expect to take another step in the AFC.
Prediction: I’d say the odds are on the low side that Franklin returns. He will be 34 years old next season and as mentioned earlier, the Colts need to improve at defensive tackle.
