Allen's MRI comes back negative

INDIANAPOLIS –The Indianapolis Colts got some good news about the health of tight end Dwayne Allen. Allen’s MRI on his injured right hip came back negative.

Allen missed most of the second half of Sunday's victory over Oakland after coming down awkward after Kevin Burnett of the Raiders tipped an Andrew Luck pass across the middle of the field. Allen tested his hip out in an attempt to return to the game. He’s supposed to spend most of Tuesday at the Colts’ practice facility getting treatment and should be available to play in Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins barring any kind of setback. Allen caught a 20-yard touchdown from Luck in the first half.

The news on starting linebacker Pat Angerer wasn’t as good.

Angerer is still going through the concussion protocol and he’ll remain out the lineup until he meets all the requirements. Angerer suffered the concussion in the preseason finale at Cincinnati on Aug. 29, but he wasn’t diagnosed with it until Sept. 5. The protocol “combines a symptom checklist, a limited neurological examination including a cognitive evaluation, and a balance assessment.”
