RTC: The Colts have the beef in the middle

Here's Thursday's Colts' Reading the Coverage ...

  • Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star writes about the Colts' two defensive tackles -- Arthur Jones and Josh Chapman. The two combine for 677 pounds and Indianapolis plans to use every one of those pounds to plug the middle of the line in an attempt to improve the 26th ranked rush defense in the league last season.

  • Stephen Holder, also of the Indy Star, writes that receiver Hakeem Nicks didn't take part in Wednesday's organized team activities because he recently had a root canal procedure.

  • Kevin Bowen of Colts.com gives his take on Week 2 of the Colts' OTA's.

  • Bowen also has a story on tight end Dwayne Allen and the progress he's made after missing most of last season with a hip injury. "Cautious, not just because of the injury, but giving my body time to adjust back to the game," Allen says of his take on OTAs. "We don't play until September and I'm fully aware of that, the coaching staff is and the training staff also. It's a process. My body has to get used to it. I feel as if every day I got a little better and that's what I expected."
