Jaguars free agents: Brandon Deaderick

Brandon Deaderick

Position: defensive tackle

Type: Unrestricted

Summary: In 2013, he played in 13 games (one start) and made nine tackles and broke up one pass. He also forced and recovered a fumble. He missed the final game of the season after suffering a dislocated elbow.

Why keep him: He’s still a young player (he’ll be 27 in August) and won’t cost much to keep around and try to develop further under defensive line coach Todd Wash.

Why let him go: He has not been very productive in his career with New England and Jacksonville, and the Jaguars can find a rookie with more upside. Plus, the Jaguars will be active in free agency at this position.

Best guess: He’s allowed to walk after his contract expires.
