JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A hip flexor injury is apparently en vogue with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
strong safety Johnathan Cyprien and receiver Allen Hurns missed Tuesday’s practice with the injury. Running back Toby Gerhart has been battling the same injury since last week and missed his fourth consecutive practice.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said it was the staff’s decision to hold Cyprien out of practice, during which the Jaguars started to introduce some information about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in advance of Friday’s preseason opener at EverBank Field. He was experiencing minor tightness and Bradley said he just wanted to be careful.
"He felt like he could have gone," Bradley said. "We have a couple hip flexor deals and his was a little bit tight. I just said, ‘We’ll be good. You’ll get a chance to get some Tampa stuff in on Thursday, so let’s just do it then."
Joe Young, a third-year player from Rutgers, worked with the first team in Cyprien’s place.
Bradley said he’ll make a decision on the injured players’ status for Friday’s game on Wednesday.
