The NFL should be awarding Monday the compensatory picks for this year's draft, but don't expect the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire any extra choices.
Picks are based on which players a given team signs and loses in unrestricted free agency from the previous year. The Chiefs were active in adding players and spending money last year. They signed among others tight end Anthony Fasano, wide receiver Donnie Avery, offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz, defensive end Mike DeVito, linebacker Akeem Jordan, cornerback Sean Smith and quarterback Chase Daniel.
The only departing free agent of note was defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey.
So look for the Chiefs to be one of the teams shut out of the comp pick allotment. Next year should be a different story.
