KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Another question on ESPN NFL Nation's player survey I thought might yield a unanimous answer is the one about playing in a Super Bowl with a concussion. The Kansas City Chiefs players that I surveyed were unanimous on this topic. All said they would play in a Super Bowl knowing they had a concussion. Despite the dangers that we now know about playing football with varying degrees of head trauma, this one didn't surprise me. Not only were the Chiefs' answers unanimous, it didn't seem to be a difficult choice for any of the players.
Maybe it makes a difference that none of the Kansas City players I surveyed had ever played in a Super Bowl. I suspect the answer might be different from those who have already played in at least one Super Bowl.
