Per a report by Tony Pauline of Draftanalyst.com, that contingent included Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt and quarterbacks coach Shane Steichen.
The Chargers select No. 17 overall in next month's draft and are potentially looking for an eventual replacement for quarterback Philip Rivers. General manager Tom Telesco has taken only one quarterback during his time with the Chargers: Brad Sorensen in the seventh round of the 2013 draft.
Trotter reports the Denver Broncos, the Miami Dolphins, the New York Jets, the Cleveland Browns, the New Orleans Saints and the Buffalo Bills are among the teams either planning to meet with Mayfield in Norman, Oklahoma, looking to fly him to their facilities, or both.
“I have a good feel on which teams like me and which teams aren’t as interested, but you never know how free agency is going to hit,” said Mayfield, the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner. “I’m sure there’s been stuff that’s happened since I’ve been working out today, so all I can do is focus on myself.”
As for the workout, folks in attendance say Mayfield performed well, throwing the ball with good accuracy and velocity.
