With 9:59 left in the first half, USC trails Cal 20-17.
The Bears are shooting well from the field (56 percent) and the Trojans aren't (41 percent). But USC has managed to stay in the game. Cal guard Patrick Christopher leads all scorers with seven points and forward Jamal Boykin has six. USC's Dwight Lewis and Alex Stepheson have five points each.
This might be the biggest crowd at Galen Center all season, but the amount of fans in the upper corners can still be counted on one hand.
USC coach Kevin O'Neill is looking as animated as ever. He called an angry timeout early on when the Trojans trailed 7-2 to start.
And yes, graduate student manager Stan Holt is on the sideline, participating in his usual job of bringing out the chairs for the team during timeouts.
More to come at the half.
