A number of USC Trojans missed Sunday's practice because of injury, including running back Marc Tyler, receiver Marqise Lee, cornerback Torin Harris, safety Demetrius Wright and left guard Marcus Martin -- and running back George Farmer hurt his ankle late in the session and was forced to come out and ice it.
The absences of Tyler (shoulder), Harris (shoulder) and Wright (leg) were expected. Lee indicated after Thursday's game he would practice Sunday despite spraining the AC joint in his shoulder against Cal, but he only did individual drills and sat out of the team sessions. Martin's injury was unexpected and undisclosed.
Lee is expected back Tuesday, which would put him on pace to play against Notre Dame. Harris has missed the last two games and has still not done any substantial on-field work. Martin did not appear to be in any sort of significant pain as he walked off the field after practice, and neither did Farmer.
Wright was using crutches after the game Thursday after bruising his lower leg and could be out this week. Meanwhile, linebacker Lamar Dawson, who has missed the last three games because of an ankle injury, did more work Sunday than he has done since the Syracuse game and looks to be a good bet to play Saturday.
In other injury news, quarterback Jesse Scroggins put on pads and threw at full speed for the first time since August in his return from a torn ligament in his thumb.
He got back on the practice field last week but participated in limited activities and is now expected to slowly transition into the rest of the drills.
