Saturday marked the two-year anniversary of the death of 22-year old pitcher Nick Adenhart and the Angels had no plans to commemorate it.
That doesn't mean players don't revisit the tragedy periodically. Some of them, including catcher Bobby Wilson, remain in contact with Adenhart's relatives. Adenhart was killed in a collision involving a drunk driver after his finest major-league start on April 9, 2009.
"It's with us every day," manager Mike Scioscia said. "I don't think we need any anniversary to reconnect that pain. We carry Nick's memory forward with us."
The drunk driver, Andrew Thomas Gallo, 23, was convicted of murder and sentenced to 51 years in prison in December for the collision that resulted in the death of Adenhart and two other young people.
