Bobby Abreu continues to feel tightness in his rib-cage area and Manager Mike Scioscia said he could be out another 3-4 days. Meanwhile, shortstop Erick Aybar won't return to the field until Wednesday, at the earliest.
Scioscia said Aybar, who has a sore right arm, will be at designated hitter Tuesday.
Those two players have roster spots secured. Reggie Willits' injury could be more costly. He is in competition with longtime minor-leaguers Terry Evans and Michael Ryan for the final roster spot.
The reserve outfielder strained his right hamstring while running the bases Saturday. The last time Willits hurt his hamstring, he missed two weeks. He said this injury doesn't feel as severe, but hamstring injuries are difficult to gauge.
"I never felt a pop or any sharp pain," Willits said.
The good news from camp is that two key relievers, Kevin Jepsen and Fernando Rodney, are set to make their spring debuts this afternoon against the Dodgers. Jepsen was dealing with the lingering effects of shoulder tendinitis while Rodney has had pain in his shins.
