Wilson getting close to comeback

Catcher Bobby Wilson has a photograph of the massive home-plate collision with the New York Yankees Mark Teixeira, the one that nearly knocked him cold and sent him to the disabled list. It shows Wilson recoiling from the impact, his mask flying.

"It's one of those things I can tell my kids, 'Hey, this is what happened on my first major-league start,' " Wilson said.

Wilson is on the verge of returning to the Angels after missing three weeks. He went through an aggressive workout blocking balls, working on bunt plays and running the bases Monday, and likely will begin a rehabilitation assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday. Wilson could return to the Angels as soon as the latter half of this week or the weekend.

It has been nearly two weeks since Wilson had the last headache associated with the concussion he sustained on the play, which happened April 23.
