Albert Pujols out of lineup vs. Jays

ANAHEIM -- Mired in one of the worst slumps in his career, Albert Pujols was out of the Angels lineup for the first time all season Saturday.

Pujols went hitless in four at-bats in Friday's 4-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, seeing his average dip to .194 and homerless streak extend to a career-high 108 at-bats. He was booed twice by the home crowd.

"We're giving him a little breather," manager Mike Scioscia said. "Sometimes you're grinding and there's nobody that grinds harder than Albert. This is a refresh day."

Scioscia said Pujols would be available to pinch hit if needed, but he'd prefer to give him the full day off. Right fielder Torii Hunter occupied the No. 3 slot for the first time this season.
