Aybar still agitated after his line drive injuries McCarthy

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- It's been nearly five days and Erick Aybar is still shaken.

The Angels shortstop said Monday he has been unable to erase the image of his liner striking Oakland Athletics pitcher Brandon McCarthy on the side of the head.

"It's been difficult," Aybar said. "You never want something like that to happen. We know we're on different teams, but you never wish bad on anyone."

Aybar said he sent text messages to McCarthy's wife, Amanda, and was glad to hear that McCarthy has improved since the Sept. 5 incident in Oakland. McCarthy underwent a two-hour surgery that night to relieve pressure from his head and has since left the critical care unit.

"I want things to turn out well," Aybar said.
