Dodgers release Ryan Webb

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Dodgers released right-hander Ryan Webb, a veteran reliever they had acquired from the Baltimore Orioles last week, the team announced.

The team said Sunday it had outrighted Webb to Triple-A, but apparently something changed. The Dodgers will have to pay nearly all of Webb's $2.75 million salary. It acquired Webb, a compensatory draft pick (No. 74 overall) and a minor-league catcher for two minor-leaguers.

General manager Farhan Zaidi did not immediately return a text message and the team has offered no further details on the transaction.
