The Kings have signed forward Tanner Pearson, their first-round pick from June's NHL draft, to a three-year entry level contract, the team announced Friday.
Pearson, who will be 20 on Aug. 10, has played the last two seasons with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League. He led the team in scoring with 91 points (37 goals, 54 assists) and had a plus-21 rating in 60 regular-season games.
The 6-foot, 198-pound native of Kitchener, Ontario, had 42 points and 35 penalty minutes for Barrie during the 2010-11 season.
Pearson represented Team Canada at the 2012 World Junior Championships, where he recorded six points (1 goal, 5 assists) in six games, helping Canada win the bronze medal.
