Kings-Ducks series to begin Saturday

The Los Angeles Kings were already looking ahead to their next series after knocking out the San Jose Sharks in historic fashion Wednesday night in San Jose.

That's because the Kings' advancement to the second round means a first-of-its-kind playoff matchup with the other Southern California team, the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks reached the second round with a six-game series win over the Dallas Stars.

The local rivals have never met in the postseason, but that will change when the puck is dropped for Game 1 on Saturday at 5 p.m. PT at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Game 2 also will be in Anaheim on Monday night. Games 3 and 4 will switch to Staples Center on May 8 and May 10.

This season, the Pacific Division-champion Ducks were undefeated against the Kings, going 4-0-1. The Ducks were 1-0-1 at home and 3-0-0 on the road, including an outdoor game played at Dodger Stadium as part of the NHL's Stadium Series.
