Blown out of the building early Sunday night, the Lakers took care of business early Monday at home against the Blazers, building a 29-7 lead after the first quarter, and holding Portland to 30 points at the half.
The second half saw L.A. take its collective foot off the gas, giving Nate McMillan's crew some life, but down the stretch the Lakers clamped down, scored some points, and secured the victory. Read all about it here. As for the show, we covered the following...
Dominant defense early from the Lakers, coupled with some of the best ball and player movement we've seen all year.
A big night (17 points) for Steve Blake.
TradeHimOrDon'tTradeHimButMakeItQuickGate and its aftermath. Mitch Kupchak released a statement before the game, politely letting everyone know they would not in fact be doing nothing to add clarity to the situation (for good reasons). How did Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant react? How much is this whole thing bugging Pau, anyway?
Looking ahead at the last two games before the All-Star break, Wednesday at Dallas and Thursday in Oklahoma City. Can the Lakers win either?
All that, plus Eric Clapton, Skee-Lo, an appearance from Kupchak (sort of... not really), and dancing (yes, really).
