O.C.: The Top 10

Ranking Servite fifth seems inherently wrong, given the Friars' body of work, including a victory over Santa Margarita, but placing them behind Tesoro following the epic upset seems the only option until the division shakes out completely.

1. (2) Santa Margarita (10-2)

Johnny Stanton rushed for four touchdowns and the Eagles prevented Poly from getting out of the second round for the third year in a row. Last: beat Long Beach Poly, 49-16. Next: at Mission Viejo, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

2. (3) Mission Viejo (10-2)

Buzzy Yokoyama scored four touchdowns and Diablos bolted to an early lead and then withstood a comeback by an Oilers team with everything to prove. Last: beat Huntington Beach, 41-31. Next: vs. Santa Margarita, Friday, 7:30 p.m.

3. (4) San Clemente (11-1)

Tritons' impressive victory behind Travis Wilson's one passing and three rushing touchdowns would have gotten more notice and appreciation if it wasn't for Tesoro's victory. Last: beat St. John Bosco, 42-24. Next: vs. Tesoro, TBA.

4. (5) Tesoro (8-4)

Titans and substitute RB Blake Rodgers scored the biggest victory in program history, doing something that Mission Viejo, Long Beach Poly and Alemany couldn't: End Servite's Pac-5 run. Last: beat Servite, 24-20. Next: vs. San Clemente, TBA.

5. (1) Servite (10-2)

Friars won back-to-back Pac-5 championships and became the standard for Southern Section football, but four turnovers were too much to overcome against a playoff-inspired opponent. Last: lost to Tesoro, 24-20. Next: season concluded.

6. (6) Orange Lutheran (6-4)

Lancers have victories over La Habra and Mater Dei. Last: season concluded.

7. (7) La Habra (9-3)

The Highlanders are halfway to winning a fifth consecutive Southern Section title after Aaron Porter rushed for two touchdowns. Last: beat Brea Olinda, 28-21. Next: vs. El Toro, Friday, 7 p.m.

8. (8) Mater Dei (4-6)

The Monarchs have victories over Santa Margarita and Edison. Last: season concluded.

9. (9) Edison (8-3)

The Chargers have victories over Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos and Newport Harbor. Last: season concluded.

10. (10) Huntington Beach (9-3)

Michael Chislock threw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter as the Oilers, but it was too little too late against the No. 8 team in the state. Last: lost to Mission Viejo, 41-31. Next: season concluded.
