S.A. Valley beats power Century

On the strength of two headers by Arturo Olivo, Santa Ana Valley upset Santa Ana Century, 4-2, in the Orange League opener for both boys' soccer teams on Wednesday.

Century (7-4-3, 0-1-0) came into the contest ranked No. 24 nationally in the ESPNHS Powerade Fab 50.

Jorge Herrera gave Valley a 3-2 lead in the 68th minute, and dangerous forward Jose Montes de Oca scored in the final minute.

Century coach Bruce Silverman called the two key goals by Olivo mistakes on the part of Century.

Mistakes or not, it doesn't matter. They counted. And Century was counted out as the Falcons (8-4-2, 1-0-0) settled into the driver's seat in the race for the league championship.
