Harvard-Westlake track coach breaks world record

Felix Sanchez, the track coach for Harvard-Westlake, set the indoor world record in the 400-meter hurdles and became the first runner to break the 49-second barrier in the race.

It was the second time Sanchez broke his own record in the 400-meter hurdles. His latest rec0rd-breaking performance came in a meet in Val De Reuil, France, on Feb. 18, when he won the race in 48.78 seconds.

He broke his record of 49.25 seconds set at a meet in Mondeville, France, on Feb. 4.

Sanchez is preparing to compete at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, according to a post on the Harvard-Westlake school website.
