LA North: Athletes of the week

Darius Rudolph, Canyon, Sr.

The Canyon running back scored four touchdowns in his team’s 59-38 win over West Ranch. He gained 180 yards on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns on the ground. He also caught a one-handed, 23-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jonathan Jerozal. Rudolph averaged 7.2 yards per carry against West Ranch.

Cory Nua, Saugus, Sr.

She won the Crescenta Valley Volleyball Tournament most valuable player leading her team to the gold division championship for the second year in a row. She set two school records in the tournament. The first was when she recorded eight aces in a pool-play win over Van Nuys. She also recorded 20 aces in the tournament and set the school record for career aces with 80. Finally, she was one of the top hitters on the team with a .351 hitting percentage in six games in the tournament.
