LA South: L.B. Poly races to fast start

LONG BEACH -- Top-seeded Long Beach Poly took advantage of a road-weary Bakersfield Stockdale and built a 52-25 halftime lead in the second round of the girls Division I state tournament Thursday night at Poly.

Senior guard Brittany Wilson had 11 of her 13 first-half points during a 22-2 Poly run to start the game. Wilson had three three-pointers in that stretch.

Stockdale, which likes to play up-tempo, clearly was fatigued after making the trek to South Los Angeles County twice in three days. The Mustangs defeated Carson in the first round but made only seven of 30 shots in the first half against Poly.
