Orange County: Athletes of the week

Cassandra Smith, Trabuco Hills, Jr.

One of the top teams in the county, Trabuco was led by Smith's effort in a 74-62 dual meet victory over another of the county's better programs, Dana Hills. She won in the 800, 1,600 and triple jump, and was part of the winning tandem in the 1,600 relay. On Saturday, she posted the county's best mark (37 feet 7 3/4 inches) in winning the triple jump at the ASICS Trabuco Hills Invitational.

Ty Moore, Mater Dei, Jr.

The left-hander threw a complete game to beat Santa Margarita, 7-4, but he also had a big week at the plate. He drove in seven runs, scored four, and hit safely in eight of 15 at-bats as the Monarchs won four games, including a victory over Servite. On the season, Moore is batting .509 with 18 RBIs and 15 runs.
