El Camino Real and San Pedro shared a stranglehold on the CIF City Section softball championship. No other team has won the City title since 1982.
Carson killed one of the queens of City Section softball and claimed the title, ending the 29-year reign El Camino Real and San Pedro held.
Carson won its first City Section championship, 6-3, over El Camino Real, taking advantage of six errors and erasing a 3-0 deficit at Cal State Northridge on Friday.
El Camino, in search of its 14th City Section title, came into the championship game having committed 17 errors all season. Cassandra Perez drove in all three of El Camino's runs. She had a two-run single in the first and added a sacrifice fly in the third.
But Carson scored four runs in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. The Colts added two more runs in the seventh inning.
Carson starter Crystal Maas pitched a complete game and won her 19th game of the season. She also had two hits at the plate. Ramona Robledo and Brittanie Lamotte each had two hits for Carson.
