High jumper featured in SI for Kids

Alexandria Florent, a freshman at Harvard-Westlake, is featured as one of the athletes of the month in the April edition of Sports Illustrated for Kids.

She won a gold medal in the high jump at the AAU Junior Olympics in New Orleans in August. She came within a half-inch of matching the age-group record for 14 year olds set by Amy Acuff in 1988. Acuff was a four-time Olympian and was a member of the UCLA track and field team.

Florent, who lives in Santa Clarita, also plays volleyball at Harvard-Westlake. She is ranked No. 1 in the nation by the AAU in the high jump for her age group.
