Michael Haney of Bloomington was the lone winner from the Inland Empire during the Southern Section Masters swim meet Tuesday at the William Woollett, Jr. Aquatics Center in Irvine.
Haney, a junior, won the 200-yard freestyle in a meet record 1 minute 37.70 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 1:39.12 set by Andrew Saeta of Pasadena Poly in 2009.
Haney came back to win the 100 freestyle in 44.84.
Haney was coming off victories in both events at last week’s Southern Section Division 3 finals. He won the same events in Division 4 last season.
