Forward Edson Buddle, who was a fan favorite during his previous stint with the Galaxy, has returned to the club, the team announced Wednesday.
Buddle rejoins the Galaxy on a free transfer after playing this past season with FC Ingolstadt of the German 2 Bundesliga after leaving the Galaxy in January 2011.
A member of the U.S. national team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Buddle scored 42 goals in 87 regular season games during his first stint with the Galaxy from 2007-2010.
“I am thrilled to be able to return to MLS and a club that has meant so much to me in my career,” Buddle said in a release. “When I left for Germany last winter, I said that I hoped to be able to one day return to the Galaxy and help lead the club to an MLS Cup championship. That day is today and I look forward to the challenges that now lie ahead.”
