UCLA's Leroux leads U.S. rout

Sydney Leroux scored a hat trick and assisted another goal and her UCLA teammate Zakiya Bywaters also tallied as the U.S. routed Switzerland, 5-0, in group play Saturday at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Germany.

Leroux, an All-American for the Bruins last fall, scored her second, third and fourth goals of the tournament, one behind South Korea's Ji So Yun in the Golden Boot standings. Ji scored twice in the Koreans' 4-2 win over Ghana in the other Group D game.

Leroux won the Golden Ball (as MVP) and Golden Boot (as top scorer) after leading the U.S. to the U-20 title two years ago. The Americans (1-0-1) will meet South Korea (2-0-0) for the group title Wednesday.
