Two Pali Blues players and another from the Santa Clarita Blue Heat have been selected for the W-League's All-Western Conference team.
Pali, which lost in the Western Conference final Saturday, placed defender Christie Shaner and midfielder Cathrine Paaske-Sorensen on the team. Santa Clarita forward Cherelle Khassal also was honored.
Shaner, who also plays for Ajax America of the Women's Premier Soccer League, is a former Notre Dame star who played one game for the L.A. Sol last year, suffering a season-ending broken leg. Paaske-Sorensen, a Danish national-teamer, signed to play with the Sol this season and joined Pali after the Sol folded in late January.
Khassal, an English youth national team forward from Arsenal's academy, scored three goals with an assist to lead the first-year Blue Heat.
Western champion Vancouver Whitecaps, who will play in the W-League final four Thursday and Saturday at Canyon High School in Canyon Country, dominated the team with five players, including former L.A. Sol defender Martina Franko.
