MEXICO: Meza, Flores to guide El Tri

The Mexican federation isn't rushing to find a replacement for Javier Aguirre, who resigned as national team coach after the World Cup. Two coaches have been tabbed for interim duties for three upcoming friendlies.

Cruz Azul coach Enrique Meza will guide El Tri against World Cup champion Spain Aug. 11 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, and former Guadalajara, Atlas and Leon coach Efrain Flores will step in for games Sept. 4 against Chile at Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara and Sept. 7 against Colombia at Estadio Tecnologico in Monterrey.

Toluca head coach Jose Manuel “Chepo” de la Torre, a former Mexican national team midfielder, is widely considered the frontrunner to succeed Aguirre.
