MEXICO: Jean Beausejour leaves America for England

Chilean winger Jean Beasejour moved from Mexico's Club America to English Premier League side Birmingham City just before the transfer window closed Tuesday.

Beasejour, 26, whom Birmingham City head coach Alex McLeish called “an excellent, left-sided midfielder who had a tremendous World Cup,” signed a three-year deal with the club, which is 1-0-2 heading into Sunday's home game with Liverpool.

Beausejour, who played 90 minutes in all four of Chile's matches in South Africa and scored the goal to beat Honduras in the Group H opener, appeared in the first two games for America (2-1-3) in the Mexican Primera Division's fall Apertura season. He joined the Mexico City giant last year and made 45 league appearances, scoring three goals.
