After enduring the most agonizing season in a 13-year Major League Soccer career, Matt Reis isn't about to complain about the preseason grind.
The New England Revolution goalkeeper from Mission Viejo (Santa Margarita Catholic HS/UCLA) is just happy to be on the field.
Reis, 35, whose career began with the Galaxy, was limited to 14 games last year by shoulder, knee and ankle injuries that required surgery.
“It is nice,” Reis told Gus Martins for ESPN Boston's New England Revolution Report. “With everything that went on last year and not being here and not going through it all, even though it’s tough, you do miss it.
“It’s part of the season and an important part of the season. You lay the groundwork for whatever you’re going to be doing for the year. Even though it’s a grind, you learn to love it.”
