THURSDAY, JULY 28
Juventus (Italy) vs. Guadalajara (Mexico)
ESPN2 and Galavision, 5 p.m.
The World Football Challenge continues from Raleigh, N.C., where The Old Lady of Italian calcio takes on its second Mexican giant in three days. Juve beat America, 1-0, on Tuesday.
CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
FC Dallas at Alianza (El Salvador)
Fox Soccer Channel, 7 p.m.
The Hoops are certainly in the upper tier of Major League Soccer teams and a clear favorite in this preliminary-round series, but playing in San Salvador is no easy task. Surviving this on even terms ought to be enough.
FRIDAY, JULY 29
FIFA U-20 WORLD CUP
Argentina vs. Mexico
Galavision, 3:30 p.m.
El Tri would love to pull a youth double and add the U-20 title to the U-17 World Cup triumph earlier this summer -- only Brazil, in 2003, has done so -- but its tough to find a rougher start to the World Cup. Argentina has won five of the last eight titles, dating to 1995.
Brazil vs. Egypt, Galavision, 7 p.m.
UEFA U-19 Semifinals
Czech Republic vs. Serbia, GolTV, 8:45 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Spain vs. Ireland, GolTV, 10:45 a.m.
MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER
Colorado Rapids at Philadelphia Union
Fox Soccer Channel and Fox Deportes, 4:30 p.m.
Whatever happens the rest of the way, the Union has surpassed expectations by leading the Eastern Conference most of the first half of the season -- and they played Real Madrid a lot closer than the Galaxy or Guadalajara could. If Sanna Nyassi's hat-trick show last week wasn't a one-off, maybe the Rapids make another title run.
ON LOCAL FIELDS
Antigua Barracuda at L.A. Blues
Titan Stadium, Cal State Fullerton, 8 p.m.
The last time the Antiguans visited Southern California, they had leapt past the Blues and atop the International Division. That division was dead soon after, and Peter Byers took off -- for the Blues, it turned out -- and now Barracuda have lost seven in a row. The streaking Blues have three games with the islanders over five days.
