CHIVAS: Another Philly fine, suspension

Major League Soccer, it turns out, wasn't done handing down discipline when Thursday it fined Chivas USA, Goats head coach Robin Fraser and the Philadelphia Union and fined and suspended Philly coach Peter Nowak.

The league's disciplinary committee Friday suspended Union defender Gabriel Farfan an additional two games and assessed an undisclosed fine for a “reckless” challenge and for “failing to leave the field in an orderly manner” for his actions in the 85th minute.

Farfan was red-carded for a violent, cleats-first tackle on Chivas USA defender James Riley, leading to a skirmish that resulted in Nowak's expusion, $5,000 fine and two-game ban, a $5,000 fine to the Union, and $500 fines to Fraser and Chivas.

In all, Farfan -- a former Cal State Fullerton standout from Wildomar -- will miss three games: this weekend against San Jose, May 5 at Seattle and May 13 against New York.
