EUROPE: Taylor, Movsisyan score goals

Irvine's Matt Taylor scored his first goal for his new club and Pasadena's Yura Movsisyan, apparently set to stay with his team, netted his third of the season as the European season slowly begins its monthlong kickoff.

Taylor (Irvine HS and UCLA), who transferred to SC Paderborn of Germany's second division (after scoring 17 goals last season at third-tier Rot Weiss Ahlen), came off the bench to score the equalizer in a 1-1 draw Sunday with Fortuna Düsseldorf. He debuted the previous weekend in a 2-1 win over Hansa Rostock.

This week he takes on his former club: Rot Weiss is Paderborn's first-round foe in the Germany Cup.

Movsisyan (Pasadena HS and Pasadena City College) scored in FC Krasnodar's 2-2 draw at Spartak Nalchik as the Russian Premier League's returned from a monthlong break. His goal provided a two-goal lead in the 76th minute, was substituted three minutes later, and the Bulls conceded goals in the 87th and 90th minutes.
