-- Rising junior pitcher Gerrit Cole earned a save in his first appearance for the U.S. Collegiate National Team on Saturday. The U.S. took all fives games from the Korean team last week.

-- Second-round MLB Draft selection Rob Rasmussen officially signed with the Florida Marlins to forgo his senior season.


-- The program announced that rising junior safety and preseason All-American Rahim Moore would accompany coach Rick Neuheisel to represent UCLA at the Pac-10 Conference Media Day on July 29. Moore is among the favored speakers among reporters.

-- Kevin Arnovitz of TrueHoop was in Las Vegas for some NBA Summer League action and had this to say about Michael Roll: " ... has an unspectacular but complete offensive game. He strokes the ball beautifully from distance, can hold his dribble in traffic, and pass the ball on the move.
