Purdue to unveil John R. Wooden Drive

Purdue University will name a street after legendary coach John Wooden on Saturday, school officials announced.

Wooden, who in June passed away at the age of 99, played at Purdue from 1930 to 1932, becoming the first three-time All-American in college basketball history. He coached UCLA to 10 national championships, including seven in a row from 1967 to 1973.

"While I know he was a Bruin, coach Wooden never shed his Purdue ties," Purdue athletics director Morgan Burke said in a statement.
