Basketball: UCLA picked to finish third in Pac-10

Someone out there thinks the Bruins can win the Pac-10 men's basketball title this season.

UCLA received one first-place vote and was picked to finish third, according to the preseason poll the conference released Thursday. Defending Pac-10 tournament champion Washington (33 first-place votes) is favored to repeat, while Arizona was picked to finish second.

The last time the Bruins were selected to win the conference was before the 2008-09 season. They finished second that year, behind Washington. UCLA has not won the conference since 2007-08.

This year's poll:

1. Washington (33)

2. Arizona (1)

3. UCLA (1)

4. Arizona State

5. Washington State

6. USC

7. California

8. Oregon State

9. Stanford

10. Oregon
